  • 10 Native STEM Enterprises to Watch
  • Coastal Tribes Confront Climate Change
  • AISES Professional Awards

Welcome to the Fall 2024 issue of Winds of Change. In this issue you'll find a new treatment of the "AISES Notebook," which is now laid out in two sections. "AISES Inspires" includes news of the organization and our regular columns on "Living Legacy" and "Cultivating Indigenous Resilience." The second part is placed toward the end of the issue and includes news on AISES members, chapters, and regions.

As in every fall issue, you will also find a feature story on "10 Native STEM Enterprises to Watch." It's a reminder that flourishing Indigenous businesses are key to building solid STEM jobs in Indian Country. You will also learn how the consequences of climate change are an immediate challenge for some tribes whose members are dealing with a crisis of too much — or too little — water. And don't miss the profiles of this year's Professional Award Winners. You'll be inspired by their stories and dedication.

Special Regional Conference Issue

July 2024

Welcome to the special Regional Conference Issue of Winds of Change. In this edition we focus on the amazing things that happen when we bring the AISES mission to our members. You'll find snapshots of five of the conferences and a close-up look at highlights of two of them: Region 2 in Pasadena, Calif., and Region 4 in Stillwater, Okla. You can also read about NAISEF (the National American Indian Science and Engineering Fair) held at Oklahoma State University and the AISES in Canada Gathering in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Welcome to the Spring 2024 issue of Winds of Change!  This issue includes our annual list of Top 50 Workplaces for Indigenous STEM Professionals and stories of some employees' experiences as STEM professionals. In addition, learn more about the importance of the mentor–mentee relationship.

This edition also brings you the latest from AISES and our members, along with a column about cultivating Indigenous resilience by Dr. Robert "Bob" Whitman in AISES Notebook, and profiles of Native students and professionals in STEM in AISES People. You can find opportunities for all Native people at any point along their STEM path in Career Builder and Paths in Education. Finally, in Last Word, you can read an insightful essay by Dr. Daniel Wildcat, who writes that "when science ignores Indigenous knowledges, scientific understanding and outcomes are compromised through loss of designs and solutions never considered."
