Physics is entirely driven by the curiosity of people who do it because they love it. It’s an incredible way of exploring and thinking about the universe. Math and physics come together in satisfying ways. I like to open my textbooks, sit there, read them for hours, and do the math in a textbook to see if I can get it right. It’s a very gratifying process.

When Kathleen Jolivette first joined The Boeing Company in the early 2000s, she had little in common with her fellow interns. By the time she arrived at Boeing, Jolivette had spent eight years in the U.S. Army, already started a family, and obtained her undergraduate degree. “I was in my late 30s.” says Jolivette. “I always joked about being the oldest.”

Mason Grimshaw never envisioned himself walking across the stage at his college graduation.
