The AISES National Conference in Spokane, Wash., is just a month away! It’s sure to be an exciting and impactful event as thousands of Indigenous STEM students and professionals from across the United States and Canada gather from Oct. 19–21 for three days filled with learning, networking, and celebrating their culture. There’s a lot to take in, and it can be overwhelming, so here are some tips to help you make the most of your time at the conference.

Prepare in Advance

The AISES National Conference is just around the corner! From October 6–8, 2022, you’ll have the opportunity to join Indigenous STEM professionals and students from all across the United States and Canada. The three days are jam-packed with plenty of opportunities to network and learn about work being done by fellow students. With so much going on, it might seem overwhelming, so here are a few ways to help you prepare for the conference.

It’s almost time. Everyone in the AISES orbit is counting the days to the National Conference slated for September 23–25. The premier event for Indigenous STEM students and professionals in North America and the Pacific Islands will again be action-packed with STEM career and academic activities. For 43 years, this one-of-a-kind forum has provided mentorship pathways, skill-building workshops, interactive education, and opportunities to network with Native peers, professionals, and elders. 

The countdown is on. It’s almost time for the AISES National Conference, an annual highlight for thousands of Indigenous professionals throughout North America and beyond. The conference will be making its virtual debut on a 100 percent online platform, giving participants new ways to make the most of three action-packed days. This year’s all-virtual format will include opening and closing ceremonies, a keynote address, a talking circle, expert-led topical sessions, research presentations, mixers, and Indian Country’s largest College and Career Fair. 

The AISES National Conference is known for breaking new ground every year, and 2020 will be no exception. This year’s event is 100 percent virtual and has the potential to bring together more STEM participants than ever before. 

AISES members are extraordinary, and pausing to recognize the achievements and contributions of some outstanding individuals confirms our collective determination to forward the AISES mission. 

ELY S. PARKER AWARD WINNER 
The highest AISES honor, the Ely S. Parker Award is given to an educator, scientist, or engineer who has made a difference for Indigenous people, especially in the field of STEM education.
